Vocal Jazz Performs in the Darien Lake Music Festival

South Seneca High School’s Vocal Jazz Ensemble traveled to Darien Lake on May 11 to participate in the Darien Lake Music Festival.

Participating school music groups perform and then receive a grade, rating and comments from judges. They compete against other schools in the same class and compete against other school groups for the “Grand Champion” distinction.

South Seneca High School received a grade of 97.5, which is rated as “Outstanding as Distinction.” They won first place in the Show Choir class and, overall, finished only behind Grand Champions of Choruses, Buffalo Arts Academy.

Aden VanCleef, an eleventh-grade tenor, received an award for “Outstanding Soloist” for his performance of the song "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" by Chicago.

The Vocal Jazz Ensemble will be performing locally Saturday, June 16 at the upcoming Strawberry Festival in Ovid.
