A lot of hardware was given out last night during our annual Sports Awards Ceremony — and all of it was more than deserved. Congrats to all of our athletes, their coaches, and their family and friends for supporting them! Go Falcons! #foreverfalcons

🙌🙌🙌Let's give a big congratulations to Vocal Jazz Students . 🙌🙌🙌 They traveled to Darien Lake Six Flags last Friday, May 31, and performed three songs in front of an Adjudicator. They performed Choral Selections from the musical, Aida, a song originally recorded by Celtic Thunder and Celtic Woman called "Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears," and they performed "One Day More" from Les Miserables. Vocal Jazz received aural and written feedback. They received a score of 97 / 100 and lost no points for showmanship. They placed Second Place in the Show Choir Category. Kayleigh Banfield (9th Grade) received an award for Outstanding Soloist for her solo as Eponine in "One Day More." Simply awesome stuff all the way around!! #foreverfalcons

🎶🎶🎶 On May 16, the 5th Grade Band attended NYSSMA Majors Organization Clinic Evaluation at Owego Free Academy. Students performed two pieces of music for two judges in order to receive comments, a recording, and feedback on their performance. In addition, the band was instructed and taught by one of the judges. Congratulations to the 5th Grade Band on a job well done. The music performed at Majors will be performed at the Elementary Spring Concert on June 3 at 6pm in the Elementary Gym 🎶🎶🎶

High School Chorus has welcomed two guests recently. Rebecca Witty, an opera singer, came and worked with students on March 28. Rebecca gave the whole Chorus, including some 7th and 8th Grades students, feedback on singing and instruction during their warm ups. Rebecca also listened to four singers preparing to attend NYSSMA Solo Festival and taught them in a Master Class setting, which is individualized instruction in front of a group of people for the benefit of all. Rebecca worked with Abby Sherry (Grade 12), Sylvia Brock (Grade 11), Jacob Borst (Grade 11), and Ruthie Dendis (Grade 11). Students participated in a Q and A session as well. On May 7, Dr. Daniel David Black, Director of Choral Activities at Houghton University, visited students in preparation for their upcoming concert. Dr. Black worked with Vocal Jazz students as well as HS Chorus. He instructed them through warm ups and did some fine tuning on pieces for the concert. Kyla Perry, Choral Director at South Seneca, attended Houghton University with Rebecca Witty and Dr. Black. She was very happy to bring their immense vocal expertise to our students.
